Awakening Your Power: The Stories, the Struggles, and the Summit That Brings It All Together

ree

There’s a truth about being a “successful” woman that almost no one talks about.

As Amy Harrington, co-founder of The Passionistas Project, put it during our conversation:

“If you are considered a successful woman, you have to present that way to the rest of the world — all the time. Don’t let them know you’re struggling financially. Don’t let them know you were just in the other room crying your eyes out. Keep the facade up. Pretend everything is 100% okay. It's an impossible standard to live by.”

For years, I lived that reality. I still remember the day I slipped into the bathroom at work, locked the stall, and buried my face in my hands. Minutes earlier, I’d been told my best efforts weren’t enough. I cried where no one could see me, then fixed my makeup and walked back out like nothing had happened.

This is what high-achieving women do — we hold it all together while silently falling apart.

That’s why my recent conversation with Amy and her sister Nancy Harrington hit so deeply. They’re former Hollywood insiders who walked away from big careers to build The Passionistas Project, a global sisterhood that amplifies women’s voices and creates spaces for truth, vulnerability, and connection.

Awakening Your Power — The Book

Their latest project, the Awakening Your Power anthology, is a collection of raw, unfiltered stories from women who have faced everything from heartbreak to career burnout — and found their way back to themselves. I’m honored to be one of those women, sharing my own chapter alongside an incredible lineup of voices.

This isn’t just a book launch. It’s a movement that says: you don’t have to hide your struggles to be powerful.

The Passionistas Project Summit — August 26–28, 2025

Even better, the stories won’t just live on the page. At this year’s Passionistas Project Summit, each day kicks off with a panel of authors whose stories will be shown on video, followed by an intimate roundtable discussion. It’s not the typical “motivational talk” — it’s deeper, rawer, and more connected.

Between panels, there are workshops led by women in the Passionistas community on everything from building a business with ADHD to navigating cultural and identity challenges. Evening events include a documentary screening, a virtual pajama party, and the Passionistas Persist Awards, honoring women making extraordinary contributions.

I’ll be speaking on one of the panels, and I can tell you firsthand — this is the kind of event that stays with you long after it ends.

Why This Matters

If you’ve ever been told you’re “too much,” if you’ve been quietly holding it all together while feeling unseen, this is your invitation to drop the mask. To connect with other women who get it. To hear the stories behind the highlight reels and remember you’re not alone.
